Your Greatest Competitor

“The harvest is plenteous, but the laborers few,” Mathew 9:37

Just like ancient herbal medicine, I also love ancient scripture and proverbs. There is great wisdom to be learned from those who came before us.

If you are like me, at one point or another, you’ve thought, “why on earth am I doing this?” There are so many other people who are doing…fill in the blank: blogging, fitness coaching, life coaching, motivational speaking, essential oils, selling baby bows, etc., etc. — I just don’t see how I’m going to attract any business with so many competitors.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret…The world is plentiful, and if you are offering something that people need or want, you WILL attract customers. We tell ourselves these lies because it’s a way we can store an excuse for later if things don’t work out.

The truth is…you are your greatest competitor.

If only we would stop seeing the world and those in it as the competition and instead looked at our own weaknesses and where we can improve, any business we set our minds to would soar.

How can I stop getting discouraged by the competition?

At one point or another, you’re going to get discouraged. It’s natural, and it happens. But let me help you move past discouragement.

The next time you see someone doing something that makes you feel small or like they are better than you, compliment them, and then use whatever it is they are doing, and add it to part of your vision board. Start making a collection of everyone that is in your niche that you are intimidated by and turn that intimidation into inspiration.

Be inspired by others who are doing well!

Inspiration is a far more beautiful feeling than intimidation. Once you feel inspired, it’s easy to generate ideas in your own authentic way.

Many times, we compare our starting points to someone’s middle-ending point. It’s completely unfair, but it doesn’t mean we still don’t do it. Or we compare our backstage life (messy house, screaming kids, unwashed hair, lack of sleep) to someone’s front stage life (beautiful website, perfect social media posts, inspiring podcasts). Any performer will tell you, it takes a lot of work backstage to create a master performance on the front stage.

And just because it takes time and action doesn’t mean its unobtainable. It just means we have to have patience and we have to be willing to put in some effort.

I want to promise you one thing—it’ll be well worth all the hours of work when you’ve reached that long-awaited goal.

So, stop comparing and start preparing.

Comment below and let me how you are going to stop focusing on the competition and instead start preparing for your own success today?
